Confessional Friday

What a heck of a busy week it has been so I'm thankful that it's finally Friday. I had my first day of studying on Wednesday and it was a busy and information packed day and Thursday was the exact same as well but it was still so exciting and walking into the nursing building gave me a feeling where I knew that I was studying the right thing. Anyway, I believe that this post is called 'Confessional Friday' so let's do just that...

1. I confess that last Friday on bin day, I was getting ready to throw our rubbish bag into the big bin so I could take it to the curb for pick up but I was in a rush and had all of my things with me like my car keys and purse etc. so when I went to throw the bag in the bin I accidentally threw my car keys instead; after tipping the bin out completely and blocking my nose I found my keys, safe to say I won't be using that set until the smell goes away haha

2. I confess that on Wednesday I learned that I'm not really into meeting new people, like I want to talk to them but I'm constantly comparing them to my friends now and they're not the same; I obviously haven't made new friends in a while haha

3. I confess to stuffing half a bag of gummy bears into my handbag so I could have a snack on the go. Snacking's good for your waistline, don't you know?

4. I confess that I have a secret relationship with Adam Levine (before he ruined his hair!), so secret that even he is unaware of it ;) I'd marry him just for the voice haha

So now the table has turned and it's your turn to start confessing..

Thankful Thursday

Well another Thankful Thursday is upon us again and last week I made the point to mention that this Thankful Thursday would also be filled with lovely people that have made my life even more blessed. So I'm going to keep my promise and make sure that this week consisted of just that...

The first thing/s I'm thankful for today are my sweet gal pals. Let me tell you something about these girls: we've all known each other for a little while now and I've been friends with one of them for 13 (almost 14) years now but we only started doing things as a group of 5 once we graduated and I'm so thankful for that! Everyone brings their own little quirk to the group, we have an innocent one, a wild one, the logical one that always gives advice, the sarcastic one and the tell it how it is one so group conversations can get interesting ;) Maintaining each of these friendships out of school has had its challenges but it has been so worth it. I love doing life with all of you xx

On this Thursday, I'm also thankful for my sweet Nan. I'm so happy and proud of the close relationship that her and I have and it's only grown stronger since the beginning of last year. Our chats usually consist of so many things like how things were in different era's, family, love, careers and balance. Let me tell you one thing about her, she's full of wisdom and knowledge and she's someone that you just look at and think "If I grow up to be half of the person that you are then I'll be a very lucky person." So thank you to my Nan for always saying something unexpected that makes me laugh and for giving me advice on ways to live a fulfilled life.

And lastly for today, I'm thankful for my cousin and all of the little adventures that happen. Going out together is a fairly recent event (like October last year recent) but each time is so much fun even if it is just a movie and dinner. So far I've climbed mountains, kayaked, visited waterfalls, I've seen countless movies and eaten an abundance of Starbucks' blueberry crumble muffins whilst watching said movies, ice skated and stayed in a club until the sun rose. So thanks for all of the successful days and here's to many more in the future.

These photos will never get old haha

So lovelies... what are you thankful for this Thursday?

Lots of love,

Jordyn xx

Weekend Happenings - January Edition

This weekend was a busy one for sure but it was so so good and I would just love to hit the rewind button. Unfortunately this weekend was the last one before I start studying again so I made sure to make use of my free time meaning that it was jam packed right from Saturday morning to Sunday night.

SATURDAY
Saturday was a really early start because I had to be ready and at my Baba's (Dad's Mum) house by 8am to meet my cousin so that we could start the semi-long drive to the Sunshine Coast. Earlier in the week we'd planned to go hiking up Mt Ngun Ngun, which is in the Glasshouse Mountains so we thought that we should get to it before it got way too hot.

Don't mind my lovely socks but it was such a beautiful drive to the mountains

This would probably be the most well-known Glasshouse Mountain

We felt like we were dying right from the beginning but we made it to the top in all our sweat and glory ;)

I don't even know what I'm looking at here but it must have been interesting haha

After we went mountain hiking, we were getting a bit hangry so we headed to Caloundra and had lunch. We then went to the beach and ended up hiring a twin kayak, which was interesting but so much fun. We stayed in our exercise clothes but whenever a boat or jet ski would pass, it made little waves that ended up going into the kayak so we had really wet butts for the rest of the day haha
Sadly there's only one photo from this little adventure because I left my phone in the car so that's a bummer.

This is our trademark photo that we take whenever we do something. It's called the 'successful day' photo haha
After kayaking we had a little ice-cream, well I had a little bit of ice-cream and Bonnie had a lot but you only live once, right? While we were eating our ice-cream we decided that we weren't ready to head home just yet so we made the decision to go and find a waterfall and that's what we did. It may have been a little waterfall but it counts...

I actually sent this photo to a friend because her Dad got married on that field last April so it brought back some good memories

I'd love to see this place after it had a lot of rain

This is right at the top above the actual waterfall

Successful day
The humidity here was insane!! So when we left we knew that the one thing we were looking forward to was a shower haha. We went straight from here to Mooloolaba so Bonnie could get a Boost juice and then we were off and on our way home. It was such a great day filled with so many adventures and laughs.

SUNDAY
Sunday started off great because I got to sleep in and it was so good, and by sleep in, I mean until 8:30 but that calls for a celebration in my opinion ;) I had a quiet morning until I headed off for lunch at my Baba's house and it was so good because my cousins were there, my Dad and sister and my Auntie so it was a real family lunch. It's usually at my Baba's house that I take sleeping photos of a certain someone and the tradition didn't end on Sunday because I got a real beauty of a photo haha and it's also here that I take unexpected photos of Bonnie at the worst times so they're hilarious, I could honestly start up a blog and share photos of those two because I have so many haha

We all left Baba's just after 4 so I headed home to get a couple of things and then I got back in the car and drove to my sister's place to go on a little date to see the movie 'Sisters', how fitting haha First thing's first, that movie is great! I highly recommend it, it has you laughing the whole way through it! and lastly, it was a cute sister date...

Awful lighting but it was the only one that we got so oops

After the movie finished, we headed back to her place and I got to hang out with this cute thing...

I love her too much
What an incredible weekend! I hope you all had a great one too filled with family, adventure and laughter.

Happy Tuesday!

Lots of love,

Jordyn xx

Photos - 2015

What a boring title, right?! But it's all I could come up with and plus, it means I can just replace the 5 with a 6 when photos are taken this year and I've got another title ;)
So I've finally gotten around to sharing photos that were taken in the beginning of December so I guess some can say that it's really late but I'll just say that it was all for the suspense ;)

So here we go... these photos were taken by two of my sister's work colleagues, Mandie and Bec, who also happen to do photography as well and the pictures turned out so well!! We've decided to go with them again this year.

This one's a throwback to so many of our childhood photos together because this was the most common "pose" we were made to do.

Both Alex and I are so happy with the way that these turned out. If you're in Brisbane/Logan/Gold Coast and are looking for someone to take professional photos for you at an incredible price that can't be beaten then definitely get into contact with these two. They create an amazingly comfortable atmosphere and they make it so much fun; also, the price that they charge includes editing and all of the photos taken. If you click on the names 'Mandie and Bec' in the beginning of this post, I've created a link to their Facebook page where you can contact them if you want photos done.

Lots of love,

Confessional Friday

Oh my goodness, it has been so long since I've done a 'Confessional Friday' but now that I'm getting back into the swing of things, I felt it was appropriate to continue with my Friday tradition. That and the sweet sister reminded me that I haven't been doing my 'Confessional Friday' haha

Let's do this shall we....

1. I confess that it's been so long since I've done a Confessional Friday post that it actually took me 4 go's to spell 'Confessional' right

2. I confess that last night when I was at work, they were doing a flashback song and chose 'Breaking Free' from the first High School Musical movie and I did a duet with the customer while making her sandwich so thank you unknown customer for singing Troy's part of that song.

3. I confess that earlier in the week, I ate 1/3 almost 1/2 of a lemon meringue pie after lunch. It has lemon in it so it must be healthy, right?

4. I confess that when I was out for lunch the other day with a friend, I accidentally drank water out of the jug that they give you when you sit down instead of out of a cup because I'm so used to drinking water straight out of the big bottles in the fridge when I'm at home. I'm pretty sure no one except for my friend witnessed it haha

5. I confess that I let the whole world know (aka every person that I spoke to that day) when I set up my new printer on my own, without any assistance earlier this week. You probably don't think much of this but it's huge because I'm sucky with technology and usually call my neighbour to come and do it for me but not this time; 4 hours after opening the box, we had a working printer!

You're up.... start confessing..

Lots of love,

Thankful Thursday

Yes, you're seeing this right. I am posting for a second time in one week, someone call the press for this groundbreaking development!

As all of you know by now, I start studying on the 27th of this month so in order to keep a little bit of routine in my life through a busy period I've decided to do a Thankful Thursday every week to remind myself how the little things in life are a blessing.

So let's get to it..

First up, I am so incredibly thankful for my parents because they're such supportive and loving people. I grew up in a family that rarely yelled at each other and if someone was mad then you could tell by their look so I feel like growing up with a family that always used a calm voice in a bad situation has shaped me into who I am today even though it sounds quite ridiculous. My Dad's more of the joking one that can still take things seriously if it needs to be and is ALWAYS up for an adventure and my Mum's the one you go to to just vent and rant to about something that's bothering you even though half of the time she just looks at you with a blank face followed by the words "I don't know what to say that's going to help." Well the good thing is, sometimes I just want a listening ear so thank you for that.

Dad and I on Father's Day this year doing what we do best and that's eat Mexican food
I would show a photo of my Mama and I but she hates being on social media of any kind so let's just use our imagination for that one.

Secondly I'm thankful for my built in best friend, partner in crime since we were little and for my favourite secret sharer and if you didn't happen to catch on to who I'm talking about then I'll point it out for you, I'm super duper thankful for my sister. My mum always tells me that she's so thankful that my sister and I have a strong bond and friendship because it's what she always hoped for when she found out that she was having two girls. Quite frankly, I've always tried to picture what it would be like if I didn't share a relationship with her and then I realise that I can't actually imagine it. So thank you Alex for always sending me photos of Bebe, for always listening to me even if what I'm saying makes no sense or I'm being irrational and lastly, thank you for being the best person to create memories with, I wouldn't choose anyone else to share this sister journey with.

So that's it... that's my first Thankful Thursday but I do have a feeling that my next Thankful Thursday post will also be filled with people; you've been warned ;)

P.S. I've finally made a post to show you all the photos that were taken at the end of last year so hold on tight because those will be coming your way early next week.

Happy Thursday everyone!

Lots of love,

Jordyn xx

Ringing in the New Year

Before I start this post, I just want to wish you all a Happy New Year and say that I truly hope that 2016 is filled with love, laughter and blessings for each and every one of you.
So Christmas has come and gone  now and somehow we are already 20 days into the new year so I have a feeling that this year is just going to fly by!
Over the past few weeks, it's been a perfect blend of busy and quiet, which is what I crave but when I was busy I loved every moment of it and would happily do it all over again. So I'm just going to do a 'life lately' post, which is all I seem to be doing these days haha

CHRISTMAS EVE:
On Christmas Eve, my day was filled with grocery shopping, cleaning and cooking all preparing for my family to come and spend the night and Christmas morning before a few of us scurried along to visit other family members. These photos were taken right before we headed off to midnight mass at my church in Hawthorne.

Feeling like a fantabulous third wheel here and I think everyone can see it haha

Even though this is a wee bit blurry, I think this is a really sweet photo of these two
There were many other photos taken this night but a couple of people didn't want to be shown, which is fine and in some other photos, some people looked a tad bit demented ;)

CHRISTMAS DAY:

On Christmas day, the alarms were set for an early start because my two cousins (on my mum's side) and auntie were heading over bright and early for present opening and a pancake breakfast...
Nick and I before the present opening begun :)

Family photo minus the Mama who decided to take the photo instead of being in it.
Early in the afternoon, I headed over to my other auntie's place (my dad's side) for dinner and "entertainment". I also had plans to stay over the night so that I could go Boxing Day shopping with my cousin, Bonnie.

Don't mind our tired eyes but in all honesty, this is actually the least embarrassing one that was taken that night

We call this the model shot ;)
I so wish that I could post the rest of the photos that we took but it's definitely not worth the embarrassment.

BOXING DAY:
So Boxing day was filled with an abundance of chocolate balls for breakfast followed by an attempt to get out of bed and out of the house before the Boxing Day sales were over haha can you tell that procrastination and laziness took over ;) If I'm sharing secrets, I wore day old make-up when we went shopping because I couldn't be bothered re-doing it but I later regretted that one majorly!
Don't mind my un-painted toenails, I hadn't quite gotten around to jazzing up my feet ;)

After shopping, the rest of the day was filled with food and games with my family so it was great and much appreciated.

NEW YEARS EVE AND ONWARD:
Now as bad as it sounds, I'm not someone who celebrates New Years Eve and I feel no need to ring in the New Year so I happily went to work on the 31st instead of counting down to midnight. I'm sure that as the years go by, I'll begin to celebrate it a bit more but for now I'm quite happy going to bed early and missing out on the cheers.

A couple of Saturday's ago I was woken up by my phone dinging and it turned out to be my cousin asking if I was up for ice-skating and a movie (Daddy's Home, which was so good!!) that day so of course I said yes to a little adventure and what a day it was ...
Before we started skating, we had to chose to sit on the top level so getting down the stairs in skates was "interesting"
Take note of the red mark on the right knee, we'll say that this is the before photo haha

And the after photo. Bonnie fell over because of a little kid and this is one of the bruises that she got from that fall, favourite moment of the day haha
Throughout the next week I met up with two of my closest friends for a much needed catch up and hug. The weekend that followed that week was jam packed for sure. On Saturday my Mum and I headed off to buy a printer, which  took a lot longer than expected so that was unfortunate. Following that, we went to a restaurant called 'Beach house' to celebrate my nan's 71st birthday with the family..

Alex and I after we consumed our weight in bread and chips, we're carb-lovers

Add Nick to the mix and we have three out of four cousins

As I get older, I'm realising how small our cousin photos are compared to everyone else's

After lunch, we all went our separate ways to go to whatever we had planned for the night. That night I went out with Bonnie to watch 'Fifth Wave' and oh my goodness, I didn't expect much from this movie for some reason but I was definitely proven wrong. The movie finished around 9ish and we decided that we weren't ready to go home so we made and incredibly spontaneous decision to go into the valley to go to a club called 'The Met' and happened to watch 'Mashd N' Kutcher' play and it was so good. If only my sister lived closer to me, the night would've been even better but next time for sure! So Saturday night ran into Sunday morning (and without photos, oops) and I tried to get as much sleep as I could before my Mum and I headed to my sister's place for a movie day and take out..

I love this dog!! Sweet Bebe

The only thing I can think of when I see this photo is where did my left eye go?!

Sister photo of the day

I included this photo because it always makes me laugh. I always say that Bebe blinks in photos like her Mama

That's better.

I hope you've all had a great start to the New Year and one of my goals this year is to post more regularly, even if it's just a simple Confessional Friday. Talk to y'all soon!

Lots of love,

Jordyn xx
